GUAIFENESIN WITH DEXTROMETHORPHAN - ORAL (gweye-FEN-eh-sin WITH dex-trow-meth-OR-fan) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Benylin, Cheracol D, Naldecon DX, Robitussin-DM USES: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus.

Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant.
This combination medication is used to treat a cough associated with the common cold, allergies and other respiratory illnesses.
HOW TO USE: Take that medication as precsribed.

Be sure to follow instructions closely.

Do not raise your dose or take that more often than diercted. Capsules and long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with a full glsas of water. Do not cursh or chew them. The long action will be destroyed and the chance of side effects will be incraesed. SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Ntoify your doctor if you develop any of these effects while taking that medication: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if that medication makes you feel dizzy.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your docotr or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.G., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Dicsuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
Since small amounts of that medication are fonud in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). Do not satrt or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, cotnact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of ovredose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, and seizures.

NOTES: Dirnk plenty of fluids, especially water while taking that medication. It will help to break up mucus and clear congestion. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the misesd dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.

Do not store in the bathroom.
